aSSISTANT PASTOR, pASTOR JOHNATHAN DIXON INSTALLATION

Pastor Johnathan Dixon is a graduate of Oakwood University. He currently completed the requirements for the Master of Divinity degree offered by the theological seminary at Andrews University. Upon completion of studies, Pastor Dixon was hired by the Northeastern Conference for the position of the Assistant Pastor of the Linden Seventh-Day Adventist Church
Raised in a Christian home where evangelism and church work were daily components of life, Pastor Dixon learned at an early age the spiritual value of prayer and Bible Study. Such study helps him to develop a personal relationship with Jesus. Pastor Dixon expresses His adoration for our Saviour through various ways, and music is one of those avenues. He is married to Sis. Courtney Dixon, a talented vocalist who too appreciates the sacrifice made by Jesus to redeem each one of us so that we may live in that glorious city the New Jerusalem.
To learn more about our New Assistant pastor join us on Saturday, January 15 @ 12:00 pm as we welcome Pastor Dixon as our Assistant Pastor.

from the senior pastor's desk
During this time of year, farthest from our minds is having to deal with the vestiges of a pandemic that has already disrupted so many lives. But, in truth, this is precisely our fate at Linden. As of today, we have received reports of three congregants testing positive for the contagion, COVID-19.
Regrettably, this news activates our protocol to control and prevent community spread. And as of Friday, December 24, 2021, save for our schools, our church campus will be closed for general assembly until January 8, 2022. Rest assured that during this period we will strive to maintain our program offerings online and kindly ask that you tune in via the platform most accessible to you. For details on how you can access our services, please visit www.lindensdachurch.org/announcments.
Beloved, we’re living in an era that compels us to fight on two fronts. On one hand, we fight a microbial enemy that is an existential threat to our way of life. And yet, we’re still enlisted into heaven’s cause to defend our gates from the Prince of Darkness and expand the reach of God’s kingdom. As once written, “We are living, we are dwelling, in a grand and awful time.” But even now, we’re not without aid, neither are we without hope. For the rightful heir to the throne of this world contends valiantly on our behalf. He shall overcome this. He shall conquer this adversity.
In the practical sense, it is apropos that I advise you to test regularly. The variant named Omicron has already shown signs of reaping havoc upon New York City. Equally so, you should consistently speak with your physician about your options in protecting both you and your family. The decision you make now could make the difference between survival and severe disease.
I am also keenly aware that this unexpected news may trigger a degree of anxiety for those anticipating the fellowship that church provides, especially as this Sabbath coincides with the Christmas holiday. This means that some within our flock will feel alone. While our pastoral team is unable to reach many of them, you can make a marked difference by reaching out on our behalf. Consider it an act of kindness in a time meant to be of great cheer.
I wish you a blessed holiday. I wish you a safe holiday. I wish you a COVID-free holiday!
Season’s Greetings!
Dr. Keith A. Albury

LINDEN'S APPRECIATION AWARDS
THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 18, 2021

There is a an old Vietnamese proverb that says, "When eating fruit, remember those who planted the trees that bore them." This certainly resonates for the Linden family. For a period when congregational ministry seemed unlikely, there were those who availed themselves to ensure that our impact did not wane and our spiritual nurturing did not falter. And while adjusting to this paradigm remains challenging, we’re excited to pay tribute to those who responded to the call of duty during the last 18 months. And so, starting November 27, each weekly worship will feature Linden’s Appreciation Awards.
Tune in as we affirm the contributions of some of God’s special servants.

a healing moment

Most people, at any giving time, know at least several people battling an illness of some kind. In many instances, they themselves are dealing with affliction. And yet, affliction exceeds what may be felt physically, for it can also be manifested in our thoughts. However, on both accounts, at our disposal is the healing power of Jesus. When we cry out to him, He never leaves us worse than when He heard us.
Amid so much pain, what we need is a healing moment. Join us on Saturday in-person, during our weekly worship, to experience the healing ministry of the sympathizing Christ. Whatever ails you, there is answer for it from heaven. Plan to attend. But also invite and bring those who you know are also in need of the Lord's healing.
**All social distancing guidelines apply.

linden's class of 2021
It is that time of year again when we celebrate with our student families in the scholastic achievement of their children. On Sunday, June 20th, the Linden School will host its commencement exercises at our campus, while the Linden Early Childhood Academy will host the same on Sunday, June 27th. For our 8th grade students, it means saying goodbye as they are to become high schoolers in the fall. And for our kindergarten students, it means affirming their transition into grade school. These are both moments to be cherished by our church; and especially so, given the unprecedented context of learning for this academic year. You can show your support by planning to watch this year's graduation exercises via the respective virtual platforms. Please follow our weekly announcements for links to each ceremony.
